Eye Candy Breakfast: Color-Coded Bookshelves

Don't color-coded bookshelves look so good? Maybe not the most practical form of organization though, so I doubt we will attempt it in the new library (still in boxes, alas), but I do love the way it looks!

(And yes, I know I need to get on Pinterest. Seriously. I will one of these days!)

And how about this one, the facing out book rails? So pretty.

And I suppose "white" is a kind of color-coding too:

Check out this video; it's an art installation called "There is Nothing Wrong in This Whole Wide World" from 2004 when this artist and a team of volunteers rearranged an entire San Francisco bookshop by color in one pizza-fueled night. Fun!

I've seriously been thinking of doing this. Hmmm..

This makes me want to reorganize my books. Perhaps not by color, though -- I'd never find anything. But it does remind me that I always find it really soothing to reorganize my bookshelves. Not sure why...

I like the white books one. That palette is my style, white with chocolate and silver and beige

I adore color coded bookshelves, and have always agreed with the general consensus that it'd be too hard to find anything... but as I was enjoying the photos you'd picked out here I realized, I might just be able to pull this off--for some reason, I always remember the color of the book's cover. Can't always remember the author's full name, or the title, but the color almost always sticks with me. Completely useless talent at the library, but hey, it might mean pretty bookshelves...

Oh hey, my bookshelf is included! It's the black one with a small chair in front of it. :) I only color coded my books that way to take pictures and now I'm still in the process of arranging them alphabetically by author.

Chacic, I think your picture is what gave me the idea! Very nice :-)

This might kind of work for me. I can NEVER find the books I am looking for, but I always know the color of the cover....maybe such a thing could organize a completely unorganizable me!
