Eye Candy Breakfast: book covers!

Have you seen these crazy-beautiful embroidered covers? They're for the new Penguin Classics editions of three greats. Someone was thinking fresh over at Penguin, that's for sure. I love them. They're wrap-arounds, with more pretty on the back. You can see full art at the blog of the artist, Jillian Tamaki.

They make me want to embroider! Which I will not be doing. Priorities, Laini! And neither will I be crocheting blankets for Clementine's "beebees" (whose names, by the way, are Peanut, Lark, and Esther). And also no to dollhouse curtains and lots and lots of tiny colorful pillows, which I have a powerful urge to make. This is what there is time for right now: family, writing, eating, friends, keeping house tidy for realtors, sleeping, showering. Pretty much in that order. Sorry, hygiene. Ha ha.

Hope you're having a lovely weekend. The sky is flashing us its pale ankles here in the Northwest, and we're all "Ooh, aah, how tantalizing!" A glimpse and then gone! Sigh. I do love the colors of March in Portland though, which tend to be: gun-metal gray skies with the cherry blossoms crazy pink against them. Pink + gray = fabulous. Who needs blue skies? (*crave crave*) Blue skies are for the weak! Ha!

I would be ecstatic over gunmetal gray skies and cherry blossoms. Every morning we wake to blue...and I really think that perpetual summer is nearly as horrific of an idea as the White Witch's neverending winter. Wanna trade?

Love those covers! Yesterday we had 80+ (my three yr old wore shorts & snow boots). And today we had 2"+ of snow (3 yr old did pants, long sleeves and a sundress with a tutu underneath). I can't wait to see what tomorrow's spring weather brings.
