FOUR DAYS ...

Four days till
DAYS OF BLOOD & STARLIGHT!!

(preorder here or here or here)

So happy! I am finally able to make one of the announcements I've been dying to make!

This is one of those things that is so ... cool. When the book takes on its own life in the world in a new way, when it inspires creative vision in another and acquires physical form ... physical form beyond that of pages between a cover. I'm a little verklempt. It's like ... like little shining pieces of the book are jumping into the world. Jumping onto people's necks and wrists ... But, oh. That sounds scary. Attack-y. Do not be afraid. My book will not attack you.

WHAT ON EARTH AM I TALKING ABOUT?

I AM TALKING ABOUT JEWELRY!
I am so excited to announce the Daughter of Smoke & Bone jewelry collection! I was pretty thrilled by the idea of this from the start, but I just had no concept that the pieces would be so unique and elegant and ... fine. They are just dazzling. Simple, a little eerie as befits the book, gorgeously executed of exquisite materials including 10K gold, and so striking. They're a little stark, a little dangerous, a lot magical. I can't wait to show you everything! That said, I must wait to show you everything. I have only the sneakiest of sneak peaks.

Here ...

This one.

Yes.

This piece.

I've seen plenty of wishbone necklaces.

I have plenty of wishbone necklaces.

But not like this ...

Such a little thing, and brittle, and the sound it made: a sharp, clean snap.*

A broken wishbone.

It hangs on a double chain. It sits so perfectly on the collar bone, it is just so great. I looooooove it. Right here, wrought in silver, is The Big Moment of Daughter of Smoke & Bone, the breaking of the wishbone and everything that it means for the past, present and future. Hope is the real magic. Isn't it just a genius design? I can say that freely of course since I had nothing to do with it! The jeweler is making her own announcements this weekend, and I will introduce her with the full collection.

Here are two more gorgeous pieces, a little sampling of the complete collection:

A tooth couplet so cleverly suspended from a thin silver chain:

And the Adder bracelet, composed of bronze snake vertebrae on cord:

Wait until you see the Adder necklace. Oh man, it is one of the coolest pieces of jewelry I have ever seen. And so much of the line is unisex and great for guys too. There is one particular piece I'd love to mention here but I haven't seen the finished piece yet so I can't, but oh man, it's going to be so great, truly a little bit of the book coming to life. You know, in the book, wishes didn't come from breaking wishbones, right? They came from another object altogether ... But I've said enough :-)

Please hop over to the Daughter of Smoke & Bone Jewelry homepage US or Daughter of Smoke & Bone Jewelry UK sites and sign up for the email announcement that will let you know the collection is live. The shop will open for orders on publication day, Nov 6 (if not possibly sooner), and will ship beginning the 14th.

YAY!!! This is really such a thrill. I hope you love them as much as I do!

Oh, and this.
Come see me on tour in the next couple of weeks!
There will be prizes ... :-)

(I'll also be at the Miami Book Fair International on Nov 18th, but the giveaway does not apply there.)

*pg 306, Daughter of Smoke & Bone, the shortest chapter I've ever written, in its entirety.

And only 4 days to go - yay! Although Daughter is supposed to be my treat for finishing NaNoWriMo so even though I'll be buying it in 4 days I'll be waiting to read it (maybe!).

Also: Laini, the wishbone chapter is the most beautiful chapter ever. Like a poem, an inward sigh. I love it so much.
