Some blurry photos of fun

Blurry-ish.

Blurry-er.

Blurry-not very.

And also tall.

This is March Fourth, a Portland-based marching band infused with a heavy dose of, er, punk cabaret? Yeah, that about sums it up. Lots of drums and fishnets and hula hoops and garters. Being "March Fourth," they do a March 4th anniversary show every year (this was the 8th year) at the Crystal Ballroom, which I mentioned in a recent post as having perhaps the only sprung dance floor remaining in the US.

It was our first time there, and the floor was springy fun, and the band was awesome. Clementine has been to lots of small concerts, mostly her beloved Mr. Ben and Mo Phillips, but this was her first CONCERT, and it was a blast for us all. I should clarify that it was a children's show in the early evening. We aren't dragging Pie out late at night to have her eardrums blasted.

Cunning creature, she figured out that if she held her balloon's . . . umbilicus . . .
with her teeth, her hands would be free to clap.

Oh. Also, there was pizza. Aka "pzah-pzah." Which, um, a certain family *might* have had four nights in a row this week. Yeah. Well. To be fair to us them . . . the, uh, family in question is in the middle of moving right now and doesn't have a lot of time for cooking.

And you know, pizza is . . . well, it's pizza.

Don't blame me. I didn't invent it!

*March Fourth tours a ton; they may be coming to your city!*

Colors and music and Clementine, oh, my!

(What kind of pizza? Inquiring minds want to know!)

P.S. Hope moving's going well--I'm a fan of having moved as opposed to the actual process--and also hope we get to see the cover for Daughter of Smoke and Bone. I'm excited!

P.P.S. I'll have to check out this band. Perhaps they're on YouTube?

P.P.P.S. My word verification is "ranted." Funny, that might apply to some of my comments on other blogs, but I don't think it works here. . .;)

Are you going to have a contest for an ARC of Daughter of Smoke and Bone? Can't wait to see the cover, and of course, read it!

Well, THANK YOU Becoming Nonna. That makes my day :-)

And YES, I will most certainly be doing an ARC giveaway. I can't wait!!!!

Hi Shveta! Various kinds of pizza were involved :-) And yes, March Fourth has a TON on youtube.

Chicago has a similar hometown marching band/punk cabaret outfit called Mucca Pazza. They opened for The Dresden Dolls a couple months back and it was one of the best opening sets I've ever seen! If March Fourth is half as good, I'm sure it was amazingly awesome.

The blurry pics of your pink hair against Clementine's pink pants are rad and party-time looking. Looks like a super fun night. (Also, congrats on your new "Daughter"! She's lovely.)
