I love this time of year ...

I love this time of year. Love autumn, love winter, love the transition between. It's that little slice of time after Thanksgiving, when the transformation occurs. This year has cooperated splendidly for us so far, with a gorgeous sunny holiday and the forecast of snow in the next day or two! I love a bold step into winter! Fingers crossed for snow, just the right amount, not so much that it cripples the city!

The house in autumn. It has begun its Christmasification now, so this is kind of a farewell to the season of leaves and earth tones ...

Thanksgiving, dining room set for 14.

Babysitter/family friend dancing Clementine around the living room.
The Christmas tree now stands where days ago the spring horse happily abided.

Goodbye pumpkins, hello reindeer and shiny brites!

This is one holiday we always host. Such a delight. Food, friends, family, games, pie. A long walk, a season's last fire in the fire pit out back. Frisbee, rockets, Balderdash, and did I say pie?

A brief respite in my book-finishing comes to an end. Guys, this deadline. Woe is me. I'm so close! Back to it. XO!

Your house looks lovely as always, Laini! I LOVE your holiday decoration posts; they are so delicious :) Happy holiday season to you, Jim and Clementine!
BTW I am so completely enjoying Night of Cake and Puppet. What a wonderful interlude as we await the last installment of the trilogy.

I hope my house will look like yours one day...

I'm glad your family had such a happy thanksgiving! My family is still much behind on Christmas decorations; all our neighbors already have their lights up!

Happy Holiday Transition Time!

Hi Liani,
I've been a lurker for years and even got your first book when I visited the US. I always wanted to take a photo of it in rural Italy and send it to you as a proof that your first book made it to bella Italia :)

Anyway, we had lots of snow ( I live in central Italy on a farm in the mountains) and it is not fun to have lost of snow when you need to do lots of hard work around the farm :(

Anyway, I just want to say, I know you are very busy with your deadlines, etc. but I really miss the old blog of yours where you posted lost of posts about your art, crafts, some recipes, pics of your house, pics around portland, etc. I hope once you are done with deadlines, you will post more here.

Wish you a very happy Christmas and all the best.
Cyrene
