Eye Candy Breakfast

photo via sunsurfer

How about a little eye candy first thing in the morning? Like, maybe, four courses?

You know how I said last time that I was loving the industrial metal look?
One thing I love is Tolix chairs, from France.

sorry no photo credits :-(

I was looking at this photo last night (from *design inspiration folder*, probably pulled from beloved Decor8 blog), and wondered what that style of chair was, so I googled around and found out. Some day, I would love to get some, to pair with a lovely wooden table and white linens in a dining room. Probably white, though they come in all kinds of colors and bare metal too.

Mixey-matchey is cute.

Just curious about prices online (they're expensive, alas), I found that they often sell in big batches, presumably as cafes get rid of their old stock. One place is currently (drool drool) offering 100 of these gorgeous blue ones.

[Heart] Tolix.

And hey, remember when I posted about those books we got in Rome? Well, I said how I couldn't find a website for illustrator Aurelia Fronty. It's um, www.aureliafronty.com. Ha ha! Also, by pure coincidence, a few days after that post, I happened to buy some Djeco stickers (*love*) for myself and Hoobubby, one of which was this one:

by Aurelia Fronty!

Also apropos of that post, thank you to Sandra Price for emailing to let me know that actually, at least one of those books is available in English. It is The Secret Lives of Princesses, illustrated by the awesome Rebecca Dautremer, published in US by Sterling. Thanks, Sterling! And Sandra for the info.

Okay. And how about this?

Photos by French photographer Alain Delorme, found via Anahata Katkin. Wow, huh?

I don't know if they're real or staged or photoshopped. Do you?

And then, in ultimate eye candy, there's Sunsurfer. GORGEOUSNESS.
A compilation of dreamy and gasp-gorgeous photos that make you go, "Can that be real?"

Beware. Once you fall in, it's hard to get out!

Have a beautiful day!

thanks Laini,
what a lovely way to start the day!
I kind of adore the improbably high-stacked bicycles - full of flowers - it's a great visual metaphor for being a writer! It's like it's saying "We're going to build something fantastic that's going to draw you in, make you suspend your disbelief, and take you on a magical journey."
Perfect!
Namaste and a Hug,
Lee

The Starbucks is the first ever, it's in Seattle down in the Pike Place Market. And it's really that cute!

Oh wait but, are they REAL? I want to sneak into that castle and peek out of those windows. And I really want to have coffee at that Starbucks. I'm going there. Just wait and see.

Magnus loves his Djeco building blocks. They really are the best.!

Hey Lee, you're welcome :-) Love that about the writing metaphor!

Rhiannon, is it really that dreamy blue?

Tone, let's meet for coffee in Oslo instead :-) Or Paris!

Each photo was impossibly better than the last! wow... I could so see your new dining room with that big table and blue chairs. Usually I would think it wouldn't be my thing by the description because when I think "industrial" I think more "impersonal" or "cold" but I really love that mixed look of metal, colors, white, wood, big candle lanterns. And all those bicycles- its like YOU cycling home every Saturday from Costco with those mounds ten feet high stacked with toilet paper, floss, ding dongs, and your special hair goo.

I love those bike photos--I'm trying to decide which was my favorite. Maybe the flowers.
So sad the chairs are expensive. It seems like everything I pick out (without looking at the cost) turns out to be tremendously expensive!

I picked up the Dautremer Tristan and Isolde yesterday in Spanish. It is so beautiful!

Those images are incredible. A perfect start to the day. The third image down from Sunsurfer I recognize from Barcelona's Old City.

So much color! *dreamy sigh* The first picture won my heart--a little bit of Faerie?

What an excellent breakfast! Thank you, Laini!

Hi Megan! Expensive? I priced those blue chairs purely out of curiosity and they are FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS EACH. Ha ha ha ha!!!! I think I'll just get all 100, hee hee hee. *wipes hysterical tear from eye* Oh well.

Andalucy, so glad you found the book! And in a language you can read. I can't read mine :-(

Good morning, Shveta!

I have to tell you, Laini, I adore the first photo. I love it so much I'm going to make it. Recreate it, as best I can. I have no photo skillz, but that doesn't matter cuz it will be even more awesome in real life. (and cuz I have friends with photo skillz.) It will be a May celebration!
