About Laini
Laini Taylor is the internationally bestselling fantasy author of the Daughter of Smoke & Bone trilogy, the Strange the Dreamer duology, and more. Her books are published in more than 30 languages, and have been short-listed for the National Book Award, and received the Michael L. Printz Honor.
The daughter of a Naval officer and an orchid witch, she moved throughout her childhood, living on both US coasts as well as Hawaii, Italy, and Belgium before attending the University of California, Berkeley. She lives in Portland, Oregon, with her husband, artist Jim Di Bartolo, their daughter Clementine, yeti Melvin, and two cats, Witch and Hazel (while also feeding the neighborhood crows with the hopes of developing a psychic bond and sending them on stealth missions for the good of the planet).
She's deeply invested in the online writing community she founded during Covid; you can find that at her Patreon, where there are many posts about writing, overcoming perfectionism, and all things creativity, as well as weekly Zoom meet-ups and plenty of hijinks.
Her next novel, in the works for several years, will be announced soon, yay!
