Writing with Naked Elephants

A couple of weeks ago, Clementine brought me my coffee cup at the door as I was leaving for the cafe to write, as is the routine every morning. I was walking that day, and a block or two from home, I noticed my cup was rattling. Taking off the lid to peer inside, I saw that I had a hitchhiker :-)

This morning, I actually reached the cafe and went up to the counter before I noticed a little companion had made its way into my cup.

He has clothes on this time, which is kind of a relief. Less to explain, you know? I mean, it's one thing to take an elephant with you to the cafe. Quite another to take a naked elephant. What will people say?

Thank you, sweet Clementine.

  1. I love the elephant. How can you not be inspired with him around--naked or clothed.

  2. What a pal, to send along a companion to be Mama's muse.

  3. How sweet! I love it when my kids tuck things in my purse or work bag to be found later in the day. Or should I say, I USUALLY love it, there have been a couple of semi-gross gifts.

  5. Close call this time. Elephant needs a snorkel just in case.

  9. This morning (Thursday) I actually witnessed the putting in of the elephant to the cup for the first time! It happened very fast, I almost missed it :-) And I was able to give thank you hugs and kisses, XO

  11. Omigosh, TOO adorable! I don't know what I want more: a Clementine Pie of my own, or an elephant (clothed or naked).
