Chicago, first sights

Arrived, realized my hotel is the spit of a cherry pit (or, for a saliva-less metaphor, a stone's throw) from "the Bean," aka the Cloud Gate, so I took a walk. Wow. This city is cool. I seriously dig the crazy bean.

Outside, inside, underneath, it is a wonder of weird and beautiful reflections.

Nearby, the Art Institute of Chicago:

The Pritzger Pavilion, which I can see from my hotel window:

And this really cool fountain/splash park/video installation.
These giant faces blink and spit water and stuff. They are so cool!

That's all for now. Exhaustion setting in. Colorful photos on the morrow. Cheers!

Your pink hair is stunning in the Bean.

I nearly crashed a wedding taking place underneath one rainy day.

I wonder how the reflections the artist predicted compare to the ones that actually exist under the Bean.

At artsy events in Chicago, a fun game to play in the donors portion of the program or exhibition is "Find the Pritzker"––because they will ALWAYS be there. So much money.

How sad is it that I live so close and I have never been to Chicago. Now I want to go. It looks like so much fun! Can't wait to hear about your scheduled events.

I see you have a pre-pub event with Anderson's Books (I get their emails). They bring in the best kids & YA authors; I'm amazed at the talent they bring in and support. I hope you have a wonderful experience in the city and out in Naperville/Aurora which is my 'hood :)

Oh, NOW I get what you meant by out and about! Not the grocery store, but a pre-book tour in wonderland! Wow, those installations. Love them! Must go to Chicago one day.
